Manchester City are reportedly set to rival several European heavyweights, as they have entered the race to sign AS Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe

The Sun have reported that Manchester City are the latest club to join the race to sign French teenage prodigy Kylian Mbappe. The Citizens are now set to rival the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan in pursuit of the AS Monaco forward.

Kylian Mbappe is slowly becoming one of the hottest players in Europe, with his exploits in attack catching the eye of some of the biggest clubs in the continent. He is still only in his teens but has been a fundamental part of Leonardo Jardim’s plans this season, with Monaco romping to the top of Ligue 1.

A bag full of tricks, with a dangerous burst of pace to trouble the oppositions defences, Mbappe has racked up the numbers this season, with 19 goals and 14 assists to show for his efforts – impressive figures for a player of his age.

His superlative performances in attack for Monaco have resulted in people drawing comparisons with Thierry Henry, who himself was a Monaco player before he eventually became a revered figure at Arsenal. And the Gunners have been scouting Mbappe for quite some time, as admitted by Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal are not alone in his pursuit though, with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid all interested in the teenager, with each of the sides heavily reported to be in search of quality attacking options in the summer.

Now there’s another club joining the list of suitors for Mbappe’s services – Manchester City. Pep Guardiola has placed the 18-year-old on top of his wishlist for the summer and is planning a £50 million raid on AS Monaco when the transfer window opens in June.

It is no secret the the City boss is looking to remodel the squad in his image. So while defensive reinforcements is a top priority, the Spaniard also wants to beef up his attack. And Guardiola would have definitely been impressed by what he saw when he had a closer look at Mbappe earlier this week in his side’s 5-3 win over Monaco.

So, Mbappe is set to spark a bidding war in the summer, with clubs lining up to secure his services in the summer. With his potential being in no doubt, Mbappe is a player who is primed for greatness and can certainly improve the options at each of the linked clubs.
