Inter Milan have joined the race to sign Hellas Verona youngster Jorginho, along with Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.
21-year-old midfielder Jorginho Frello has attracted a lot of interest from clubs all across Europe this season. The Hellas Verona youngster has seen his stock rise this season following his amazing performances. Verona are currently 4th in the league table and have been a surprise package this season. Jorginho has been one of the biggest reasons behind Verona’s success far. The midfielder has already scored five goals and provided one assist in the opening eight matches so far.
Jorginho scored two goals in the recent win over Parma in the league and scouts of Arsenal and Chelsea were present in that match to monitor his progress. Jorginho seemed delighted with the attention he is receiving and has hoped that he can continue his development and prove his worth.
“In the match against Parma there were scouts from teams like Arsenal and Chelsea.
“Maybe if I keep playing well I can show exactly what I’m worth.” – Jorginho told the press.
Verona manager Andrea Mandorlin is also aware of these interests from other European clubs and doesn’t hope to retain him for too long. But he insisted that the club is developing other youngsters to replace him, when the times comes for his departure.
“I know, only too well, that it will be hard to keep the likes of Jorginho.
“But behind them we are already allowing others to grow and mature.
“We are making use of those youngsters who are given little space but who will have an important future for this club.” – Mandorlin said.
Apart from Chelsea and Arsenal, Liverpool and Inter are also monitoring him. Jorginho might well be subject of a bidding war in January. But the U-21 Italian international has a contract till 2016 with Verona and has recently said that he will stay for one more season to complete his development over here.
“Staying here for another season would only do me good. I feel at home here and there is great enthusiasm in this place.” – Jorginho said earlier.
Inter, backed by their owner Erick Thohir, are expected to have a busy January transfer window. They have made a slow start to their league campaign and will need reinforcement to compete for a European spot this season. Recent reports from Italy suggest that they have short listed Jorginho as one of their prime targets for the next transfer window.
