La Liga giants Sevilla are said to be interested in signing Manchester United left-back Alex Telles on loan this summer.

According to Italian football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United left-back Alex Telles has emerged as a target for the summer transfer window for La Liga giants Sevilla, who are interested in signing the Brazil international on loan.

Telles was signed by Manchester United in a €15 million deal from FC Porto in the 2020 summer transfer window. The Brazilian left-back has, however, failed to hit the ground running and has had two sub-par seasons for the Red Devils in 2020/21 and 2021/22.

The Brazilian has not been able to displace Luke Shaw as the club’s first-choice left-back and has only been given an extended run in the side when the Englishman has been ruled out due to injury. Telles has made a total of 30 Premier League appearances for Manchester United over two seasons, 21 of which came in the 2021/22 campaign.

Telles does not seem to feature in new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag’s plans. The Red Devils have signed left-back Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord, with the Dutch defender expected to compete for the position with Shaw, who will likely continue to be the first choice at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are said to be preparing to offload Telles, and Sevilla have emerged as one among the two or three clubs that are showing interest in the 29-year-old. The Brazilian international’s former club FC Porto were also linked with a reunion, but they no longer want to secure his services.

The ball is now in Manchester United’s court to strike a deal with one of the interested clubs. It is expected that Telles will leave on a loan deal, with two years still left on his contract with the Red Devils. They are also expected to pay part of the player’s tally should he join another club temporarily.

Fabrizio Romano expects that a deal could be struck shortly, and Manchester United could offload Telles in the coming weeks. Ligue 1 giants OGC Nice are also reportedly among the clubs showing interest in the left-back. As for Sevilla, it will be interesting to see if they bring Telles to La Liga amid their search for a left-back.
