Napoli attacker Piotr Zielinski is reportedly uninterested in joining West Ham United this summer.

According to Calciomercato, Napoli’s attacking midfielder Piotr Zielinski is the subject of an approach from West Ham United, but the player is not keen on joining them. The Hammers had recently submitted a €25 million bid for the Poland international, which is expected to be turned down.

Zielinski was among Napoli’s most important players at the start of the 2021/22 season, but some indifferent form meant he spent a lot more time on the bench later on in the campaign. In all, the 28-year-old started just 26 Serie A matches for the Partenopei, leading to rumours of a possible summer exit.

West Ham United’s approach strengthened the fears of the Napoli faithful that the attacking midfielder could be on his way out. The Hammers have reportedly opened talks with the Serie A side over a move for the Polish international, but they could be approaching a dead end in their pursuit.

As per the report, Zielinski has no plans of leaving Napoli to join West Ham this summer and is eager to stay and fight for his place at the Serie A club. There are also other reasons that the 28-year-old Polish midfielder has decided against a move to the London Stadium.

Firstly, West Ham’s offer for the attacking midfielder was not considered ‘adequate’ by the player and his entourage. Secondly, while Zielinski will still be able to play in the UEFA Champions League with Napoli, he will have to make do with the UEFA Europa Conference League by joining the Hammers.

Moreover, he is not fully convinced with the West Ham project, leaving him with no option but to turn down a move to be a part of David Moyes’s side. Zielinski also has two years left on his current contract with the Italian giants, and the club have the option of extending it by another year.

On the other hand, Napoli are expecting a bid in the region of €40 million, which is €15 million more than what the Hammers reportedly bid for Zielinski. And the 28-year-old needs to be convinced of the role on offer and West Ham’s project before finalising a deal.
