Torino have reportedly entered the race to sign Real Madrid prospect Reinier Jesus, who will be allowed to leave on loan this summer.
According to AS, Real Madrid youngster Reinier Jesus has emerged as a transfer target for Serie A side Torino, who are willing to sign the 20-year-old Brazilian prospect on loan for the upcoming season.
Reinier Jesus joined Real Madrid in January 2020 and after spending time with the club’s Castilla team for six months, the attacking midfielder joined Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2020 on a two-year loan deal. However, his time in Germany was not entirely fruitful as he played less than 40 games across two seasons, scoring and assisting one goal apiece.
Despite his struggles to get meaningful game-time at Signal Iduna Park, Real Madrid continue to rate Reinier Jesus very highly. However, with no non-EU spots left in the squad, Los Blancos are once again forced to send the 20-year-old prospect on loan yet again this summer.
Real Madrid wish to finalise the Brazilian’s loan departure at the earliest as they do not plan to take him on their pre-season tour to the United States. A move to newly-promoted La Liga club Real Valladolid, owned by former Real Madrid and Brazil superstar Ronaldo, has been discussed heavily.
Torino, too, have now entered the fray to try and sign Reinier on loan for the upcoming season. The Serie A giants are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements this summer as they look to add more quality and firepower in the final third after losing ace goalscorer Andrea Belotti. An opportunity to take Reinier, who can play as an attacking midfielder or out wide, is being considered seriously by the Italians.
However, the report adds that Real Madrid would prefer Reinier to move to a club closer to home, which might stack the odds in favour of Real Valladolid over Torino. The 20-year-old had been close to joining SL Benfica earlier this month but a move fell through after the Portuguese giants pushed for a permanent purchase option which Real Madrid were unwilling to include as part of the agreement.
Reinier, though, is now closing in on another loan exit, and it will be interesting to see if he ends up staying in Spain or moves to Italy by joining Torino.
