Interest in Tammy Abraham continues to mount, with Aston Villa and Newcastle United chasing the AS Roma forward and Arsenal also keen on signing him.
According to 90 min, Aston Villa and Newcastle United have joined the chase for Tammy Abraham. The UEFA Europa Conference League winner has been on the radar of Arsenal, among other clubs, as interest in the former Chelsea forward continues to mount.
Tammy Abraham has enjoyed a fantastic season at AS Roma, away from the constant pressure of the English media. The English forward scored 27 goals in a season where he finished as a UEFA Europa Conference League winner, with Roma beating Rangers in a tense final.
As soon as the striker began firing on all cylinders, rumours of a possible return to the Premier League started emerging. Arsenal and Chelsea were among the clubs mentioned as a possible destinations for the English international. Despite the insistence that Abraham remains uninterested in leaving Roma, the interest keeps mounting.
Arsenal wanted to sign Abraham last summer, with Mikel Arteta an admirer of his qualities. Their inability to offload forwards like Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang cost them a transfer.
With the Gunners keen to sign a top-rated striker this summer, Abraham’s name has been constantly mentioned alongside Victor Osimhen, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and primary target Gabriel Jesus. If Arsenal end up signing Jesus and successfully renew Eddie Nketiah’s contract, a move for the Roma forward could be in doubt.
In such a scenario, the pathway for Aston Villa and Newcastle United could become clear, with the Premier League duo entering the chase for Abraham. Steven Gerrard has already begun making his mark this summer, with Aston Villa agreeing to deals for Philippe Coutinho, Boubacar Kamara and Diego Carlos.
Gerrard wants to add a top-draw striker, as he could look to sell one of Ollie Watkins or Danny Ings to free up space in the frontline. Abraham is a viable target as he instantly upgrades Aston Villa’s current options and adds much-required goal threat upfront.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United are desperate to sign a top-class striker to improve their goalscoring prospects. Calvert-Lewin is one of their preferred option this summer, and Abraham could be considered a quality alternative to the Everton striker.
Eddie Howe is not satisfied with Chris Wood’s output and doubts Callum Wilson’s fitness record. Abraham has proved in the Premier League and Serie A that he can consistently play for an entire season while maintaining his levels at the very top.

But a transfer for the English international could be complicated, as Roma will demand a huge asking price. Former side Chelsea have a buy-back option for €80 million, which activate in 2023. Hence the Giallorossi are in no rush to sell their star man, despite knowing very well that they could get a considerable price in the current window by selling him to Arsenal, Aston Villa or Newcastle United.
Not sure Tammy will leave Roma, but if there is a chance Villa should be in pole position with Luiz as a bargaining chip. I think On that basis that Villa could easily outbid others in the running,
I also believe that if he chose to leave Roma he is already a fans favourite at Villa and my guess is he would go there.
