Aston Villa, Manchester United and Tottenham are reportedly holding discussions to sign Yves Bissouma, valued at €45 million by Brighton.

According to French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are vying for the signature of Yves Bissouma over a possible deadline day move. The Malian midfielder is valued at around €45 million by Brighton & Hove Albion.

Yves Bissouma joined Brighton & Hove Albion from LOSC Lille in July 2018 and has since established himself as one of the most reliable midfielders in the Premier League. A mainstay in midfield for the Seagulls, the Malian international is a key figure for club and country.

To date, the 25-year-old has made 111 appearances for Brighton, chipping in with four goals and two assists in the process. Bissouma’s progress in the last three and a half years has not gone unnoticed, with several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Tottenham and Aston Villa, keen on signing him.

Manchester United’s need to add more steel to their midfield is well-documented. The Red Devils lack a solid presence in front of their defence, with neither Scott McTominay nor Fred proving to be adept in essaying the holding midfield role. And with Nemanja Matic on his last legs as a top-level midfielder, Bissouma has emerged as a viable target for Manchester United.

As for Tottenham, Spurs are already set to sign one midfielder in Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus but might not rest with just the solitary acquisition. The north Londoners have also been heavily linked with a deadline day move for Bissouma, whose Premier League experience should come in handy for them.

Aston Villa’s pursuit of Bissouma might essentially have been borne out of their inability to sign Bentancur, who looks set to join Tottenham instead. With Marvelous Nakamba out for the foreseeable future and Douglas Luiz facing an uncertain future at Villa Park, the Villans need to bolster their midfield unit, with Bissouma a viable target.

Manchester United, Tottenham and Aston Villa are all in talks with Brighton over a move for Bissouma but will have to shell out €45 million to sign him. The asking price may pose a stumbling block for Tottenham, but Manchester United and Aston Villa could have the means to shell out €45 million to snap up the Malian midfielder.
