Tottenham are reportedly monitoring midfielder Yves Bissouma, and right-back Djed Spence ahead of potential deadline day moves.

According to Daily Mirror, Tottenham are still active in the market and are looking to launch a late double swoop on deadline day for midfielder Yves Bissouma and right-back Djed Spence to fulfil Antonio Conte’s demand for fresh faces before the window slams shut on Monday.

It has been a fairly underwhelming winter window so far for Tottenham Hotspur, who have struggled to bring reinforcements through the door and recently faced a double blow in their transfer pursuits. They got rejected by their priority target Adama Traore, who has instead opted to move to Barcelona despite weeks of interest from Spurs, while Luis Diaz has joined rivals Liverpool.

There have been concerns among Spurs faithful that Conte is unconvinced with the lack of business being done by Fabio Paratici. As per the report, Tottenham are eyeing late moves to capture Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence from Brighton and Middlesbrough, respectively.

Bissouma has been heavily linked with a move away from the Amex Stadium during the current transfer window, with his consistent all-action performances attracting interest from a number of top-flight clubs, including Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Arsenal. Conte is a big admirer of Bissouma and hopes Spurs can strike a deal with Brighton as he looks to add more steel to the midfield department.

The 25-year-old joined the south coast club in 2018 from Lille. He has gone on to make 111 appearances for the Seagulls and has become an integral part of Graham Potter’s setup. Although Brighton are reluctant to lose their prized midfielder this month, they will engage in initial talks and could be open to selling him for the right price as he only has 18 months remaining on his contract.

Indeed, the Malian enforcer will add quality and dynamism to the Tottenham midfield. He would bring stability to their spine with his defensive actions, while his ball progression and dribbling could be vital assets to initiate counter-attacking transitions. However, a mid-season switch would be incredibly tough to see through, and any midfield arrival would depend on the futures of Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli.

As for Djed Spence, the 21-year-old has been shining in the second-tier for Nottingham Forest on loan from Middlesbrough this season. The exciting youngster, who operates at right-back, has made 24 Championship appearances for Forest and has been a crucial component of their campaign.

Spence has piqued the curiosity of a number of top-flight clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham, and Leeds United, while he is also on the radars of AS Roma. Conte is keen to strengthen his wing-back options, and Spence could be an excellent alternative with Traore not arriving at the club.

That said, Spence has already played for Middlesbrough and Forest this term and might not be registered until the summer. Whether Tottenham get deals for either of their targets over the line before the transfer deadline remains to be seen.
