Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up the prospect of signing 23-year-old French attacker Romain Faivre from Brest in the summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Romain Faivre has emerged on the radar of Real Madrid over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The 23-year-old attacker is being closely monitored by the Spanish giants, who could foray into the French market soon.

Romain Faivre is widely regarded as one of the most enterprising forwards in Ligue 1, having gone from strength to strength since joining Stade Brestois 29 from AS Monaco in July 2020. In the last 18 months, the Frenchman has been a pivotal figure for Les Pirates, making several notable contributions for them.

The 23-year-old is enjoying a solid 2021/22 campaign, amassing eight goals and six assists in 21 appearances across all competitions. Faivre’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid, setting their sights on him.

Real Madrid could be set for a big summer transfer window wherein two of the most coveted young attackers in Europe could arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Merengues are reportedly hot on the trail of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, with the two being their priority targets ahead of the 2022/23 season.

But with nearly half a dozen attackers facing an uncertain future at Real Madrid, Los Blancos will have to look for multiple offensive reinforcements in the transfer market. And it will not be surprising to see Real Madrid sign another attacker in addition to Mbappe and Haaland if both forwards join them at all.

To that end, Faivre is a viable target for Real Madrid, with the 23-year-old potentially being a long-term replacement for Eden Hazard. But a stumbling block could be presented to the club, as the French winger, also a target for Premier League big-spenders Newcastle United, dreams of joining Paris Saint-Germain one day.

While the French giants have not been linked with him of late, Real Madrid will need to be wary of the looming threat of Les Parisiens if they launch the offensive for Faivre in the summer. For now, the Spanish heavyweights are closely monitoring the Brest star’s progress, and it will be interesting to see if they firm up their interest in him anytime soon.
