Real Madrid are set to make a last-ditch attempt to take Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to the Bernabeu as they hope to sign one of Europe’s top-rated stars.

Ever since the end of last season, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been linked with a move away from Lazio, and now TransferMarketWeb are reporting of a possible last-minute move from Real Madrid for the former Manchester United target. There are still fifteen days left until the transfer market slams shut, but Madrid will be looking to close a €120 million deal before the season begins.

Having been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United among others all summer, now Real Madrid are interested in making the Serbian midfielder their marquee signing.

Now that the transfer window in England is shut, there is every chance of the Serie A star making his move to Spain, with Manchester United out of the running. And, it seems like Real Madrid are the ones actively looking to make a big signing, primarily a midfielder.

The summer transfer window has been a strange one for Real Madrid by their standards. Los Blancos have already lost Cristiano Ronaldo and now another one of their other star players Luka Modric reportedly wants to leave for Inter Milan before the window shuts. With Mateo Kovacic already joining Chelsea, there is visible room for improvement.

The Real Madrid board are also unhappy with their transfer business this summer, with no big signing barring Thibaut Courtois. The idea is to bring in a high profile player to boost their team’s profile and maintain balance in the side, and they definitely need one in case they lose Modric as well.

Since interest in the Serb has risen beyond expectations, the price tag has been soaring as well, with Real Madrid now ready to pay €120 million for the former Manchester United target. As Lazio prepare for their season ahead, they would be concerned with a late transfer of their star player, who they are now banking on for the season.

It now remains to be seen if Real Madrid are able to land the player in the coming days, or if Lazio manage to fend off interest from another big club after Manchester United and several others. An intriguing next few days beckon.
