Manchester United and Chelsea are set to lock horns to secure the signature of Moussa Dembele with Celtic reportedly willing to cash-in on the 20-year-old.

Manchester United and Chelsea have been at loggerheads to secure Moussa Dembele’s signature especially with the Scottish side willing to cash-in on the player’s signature, according to the Sun.

And for good reason too. Celtic have enjoyed a formidable maiden campaign under Brendan Rodgers securing the Scottish League Cup alongside a comprehensive title victory in the Scottish Premiership.

With a Scottish Cup final date pending against Aberdeen on the last week of May, Celtic have the opportunity of completing a domestic treble for the first time in 16 years. And the poster-boy of what’s been an exciting season at Celtic Park has been Moussa Dembele.

The French wonderkid arrived from Fulham last summer in a four-year deal on the cheap and has turned out to be an absolute bargain for the Bhoys with a return of 32 goals and 9 assists from 49 games in all competitions.

A number of big teams have been linked with Dembele over the course of the past 6 months with Real Madrid, Paris St Germain, Bayern Munich and even Manchester City all expressing their interest in the player’s services.

Should the stock and demand for the 20-year-old grow, Celtic could stand the luxury of naming their price for the player and could eventually end up accruing a significant profit on the player.

Manchester United have been heavily reliant on the services of Zlatan Ibrahimovic up top for them this season and with his season-ending injury, the goals have been hard to come by.

As a result, the Red Devils have been feverishly linked with a number of top strikers in world football including the French trio of Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe and Dembele himself. Mourinho could use the services of an out-and-out striker like the 20-year-old in-order to lead a potential title charge next season.

With Diego Costa’s future at Stamford Bridge uncertain, Chelsea have been on the look-out as well for a big money replacement up top to add to the presence of Michy Batshuayi and youngsters like Tammy Abraham.

With a 5th title in the Premier League era confirmed and a potential FA Cup coming their way, the Blues will look ahead to bigger things next season and the potential signature of Dembele falls in line with the club’s ambitions for the future.

Dembele would be no stranger to the English game having already plied his trade in the Championship and the Premier League with Fulham during his three-year stay at Craven Cottage where he scored 19 goals and assisted 9 from 69 appearances.

Rodgers has often come out and underlined Celtic’s desire to keep their French forward at the club as the Scots look to build a squad capable of challenging the best of the best in the Champions League.

Although the future of the striker remains uncertain, the aforementioned developments and the wide-spread interest for him means the Northern Irishman may have to prepare for the worst-case scenario and line-up a potent back-up option for Dembele should he leave.
