Manchester United are reportedly back in pole position over Manchester City and RB Leipzig to land Ajax prodigy Daishawn Redan in the summer.

Daily Mirror are claiming that Manchester United are in pole position to land Ajax prodigy Daishawn Redan. RB Leizpig was reported to be leading the chase over Manchester United and Manchester City. But, it seems the Red Devils are favourites, again, to snap up the wondrous Dutch forward.

Manchester United were once the favourites to land the player, due to the involvement of former Ajax staff Henny De Regt, who is now under contract at Old Trafford. But, after the player arrived at the club amidst talks of a potential switch, a move failed to materialize.

Reports then emerged of RB Leipzig being in the lead over United and City for Redan. However, there were updates of the forward finally deciding on his future, with an extension at Ajax reported.

Now, though, it has now come to light that player will not be extending his deal with Ajax. The club’s youth coach Said Ouaali threw some light on the situation, stating his disappointment at the failure to reach an agreement with Redan, who he labeled as one with a bright future.

Ouaali said,“ We have mapped out a path for him and held in-depth discussions with him and his management. That there is no agreement is extremely regrettable; obviously they have something else on their minds.”

“ We have made every effort to maintain a great talent as Daishawn for the club but at some point it stops. We wish him all the best with the rest of his career.”

Manchester United are being touted as favourites on the back of Redan’s admission of liking the prospect of moving to the club, after accepting that there are a number of clubs showing interest in him, while talking to Voetbal International.

Redan said,“ I hear a lot of rumours around me and I will not deny that there are clubs that are interested. Manchester United is a very nice and good club of course and I must admit that I am interested in an adventure like that.”

Redan, who is now 16, is likely to join his compatriots Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Millen Baars at Manchester United, if the move does materialize this time around. Also, the 16-year-old will be expected to slot into the Under-17 side, along with other prodigious talents like Angel Gomes, Joshua Bohui, Nishan Burkart and others.
