Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly trailing Bundesliga sensation RB Leipzig in the race to sign Ajax prodigy Daishawn Redan.

ESPN have reported that, as per their sources in Germany, RB Leipzig are now leading the chase to sign highly-rated Ajax prodigy Daishawn Redan. The player has been courted heavily by Manchester United, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain. But, the trio of giants could be set to miss out on the star, with Leipzig set to steal a march.

Daishawn Redan is another gem to rise from the Ajax academy – one of the best academies in the footballing world. The player, who can play both as a striker and a left winger, has absolutely blitzed his way through the various age levels, on both the domestic level and international level.

This season, the player has already recorded 19 goals (as per ESPN) and genuinely looks like a future superstar-in-the-making.

For Netherlands, the 16-year-old has already made the Under-17 team, with a return of 6 goals in just 9 games for the Oranje. The player is lauded for his right-foot, his pace and his technical prowess – all of which has placed him on the radar of top clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

In fact, it was earlier speculated that the player had already decided to move to Manchester United, with former Ajax staff Henny de Regt, who is now on United’s payroll, playing a crucial part in the rumoured transfer. The player was scheduled to join the Red Devils in January. But, the aforementioned has failed to transpire, for unknown reasons.

But, Manchester United are still interested in the player, while facing competition from City and Paris Saint-Germain. In fact, they were still pretty confident of landing the player. But, latest updates from ESPN have come as a shock, with RB Leipzig, Bundesliga newcomers, the newest favourites tipped to sign Redan.

Leipzig has made waves across the footballing world and are shock title contenders in Germany in what is their first season in the top-flight, after gaining multiple promotions from the lower divisions in the recent years.

Ajax have been trying to tie the player down to a long-term deal but, as per the ESPN report, RB Leipzig are looking to lure the player towards Germany, with evidences of the club being heavily invested towards youth development in the young profile of their first-team squad.

There is no deal in place till now, though, and Ajax could yet manage to convince Redan to stick with them for the next few years. Or any of the aforementioned trio of giants may come in, convince and swoop for Redan. For now, though, RB Leipzig are primed to beat giants to another prodigy.
