Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has indicated that he would be open to offers from Bayern Munich next summer.
Suarez has been one of the best players in Premier League this season and at times he has almost single-handedly carried Liverpool on his shoulders. The Uruguayan international has scored 18 goals in the league so far, in 26 appearances, and is the second highest scorer behind Robin van Persie. His brilliant form has attracted attention from big clubs across Europe, amongst speculation that German giants Bayern Munich are interested in him.
Now the striker himself has fuelled the speculations now in a statement that he would be willing to listen to Bayern Munich next summer.
‘If Bayern Munich makes an offer I would certainly be willing to listen and think about it.
‘It doesn’t mean I will definitely leave, it just means that I will not automatically reject other clubs.’ – Suarez was quoted in press.
The above statement could certainly be a thing to worry about for the Liverpool management and fans. The striker, who was brought to the club after Fernando Torres was sold to Chelsea, has been their most influential player this season.
Bayern Munich are set to undergo a busy summer next season with Pep Guardiola set to take over at the German capital. The players who are unlikely to fit into Guardiola’s style of play are likely to sold over the summer and reports suggest that Mario Gomez would fall in that list. The former Barcelona manager has already listed down his primary transfer target for next season and Suarez is said to be at the top of the list.
The 26-year-old striker reportedly has a £36 million buy-out-clause in his contract and if the German giants matches the amount with a bid Suarez will have a big decision to make. The fact that Liverpool might be without European football next season, could influence Suarez’s move. Till then the Kopites will have to hold their breath in anxiety.
