Manchester United are reportedly set to sign priority target Antony in an incredible €100 million deal from Ajax.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are set to finalise a deal for Antony for an mammoth €100 million. After prolonged negotiations, Ajax finally accepted Manchester United’s terms for the 22-year-old Brazilian winger.

Manchester United have finally landed their top attacking target in this window, as they are set to sign Antony from Ajax. The deal has taken a long time to reach this stage, but the Red Devils will be glad they achieved their priority target for this window.

There is an agreement between Manchester United and Ajax for Antony to the tune of €100 million. The fee includes add-ons and will smash the Eredivisie transfer record, which previously was Barcelona’s move for Frenkie de Jong from the same club.

Erik ten Hag wanted the Brazilian attacker at all costs, although many will look twice at the price Manchester United have paid for the winger. According to multiple reports, Manchester United could have achieved Antony for significantly lower earlier in the window, but the club did not heed those messages.

In the end, Ajax had no choice but to keep raising the bar on Antony’s valuation, but they may not have the necessary time to find a suitable replacement. Interestingly, the Dutch champions have received more in transfer fees from Manchester United alone this summer for two players than their 2020/21 revenue.

However, this deal looked in jeopardy a few days ago when Ajax rejected a series of bids from Manchester United. The latest was a mammoth offer worth €90 million, as the Dutch giants looked to squeeze out the top dollar from the Red Devils.

Many even criticised Ajax for not taking the money, as they stood by their decision to keep the player for the season. However, Antony then told the club of his desire to join Manchester United and even gave an exclusive interview to Fabrizio Romano, citing his displeasure at how things have panned out.

Eventually, negotiations have taken a different turn, as Ajax have agreed to let go of the attacker for a whopping €100 million. Antony will sign a contract with the club until 2027, and there will be an option to extend the deal until 2028.

Antony will be happy with the overall news as he finally gets his dream move and reunites with ten Hag. Whether he would prove to be worth the €100 million spent by Manchester United remains to be seen, but he does look like a top signing from some angles.
