Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been handed a major boost in their pursuit of 29-year-old Ukrainian international Ruslan Malinovskyi.

According to Gianluigi Longari on Twitter, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Atalanta’s 29-year-old Ukrainian attacker Ruslan Malinovskyi this summer.

The 29-year-old is out of favour at the Gewiss Stadium and does not appear to feature in Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans amid interest from Tottenham. Atalanta are seeking €20 million for the Ukranian attacker’s services, and a move could be on the cards in the final days of the 2022 summer transfer window.

Tottenham have been keeping tabs on the player’s progress at the Serie A club for a while now, and are well placed to make their move. Malinovskyi is open to moving to north London, giving Antonio Conte’s side a shot in the arm to get the deal over the line.

Fabio Paratici has been busy revamping the Tottenham squad this summer, handing Antonio Conte a unit capable of competing for the major titles. While the team is much stronger than what we have seen in recent seasons, there are still some additions needed in certain departments.

Richarlison is a difficult player to pin down, but he is far from a prolific goalscorer. Bringing in another attacker to back up Harry Kane is essential, and Malinovskyi fits the bill. The 29-year-old is not just a decent goalscorer but is also capable of crafting opportunities for others.  This should help him fit in well in Conte’s fluid system at Tottenham. Malinovskyi is also a deft hand at set-pieces, offering further cutting edge in attack.

Nottingham Forest had a €15 million bid turned down for Malinovskyi by the Serie A club earlier this summer. It was suggested that Tottenham could make their move once they get rid of their fringe players. With Tanguy Ndombele joining Serie A giants Napoli on loan, the time might be ripe for Spurs to make their move.

As things stand, while Tottenham are interested, they are yet to make a concrete move. With just days left in the summer transfer window, it is now or never for Paratici to act. Bringing in Malinvoskyi could very well make the difference as Tottenham look to make an impact upon their return to the UEFA Champions League.
