PSG could be prepared to pay £59 million to sign Bernardo Silva, although a move could be complicated, with limited time left in the window.

According to The Times, Paris Saint-Germain are pondering a late move for Bernardo Silva and are prepared to pay £59 million for the Manchester City playmaker. However, securing his services could be complicated if the player is uninterested in returning to Ligue 1.

Bernardo Silva has recently become one of the best players in his position, having developed his game exponentially under Pep Guardiola. The Manchester City manager relies heavily on the playmaker, and the Portuguese international has delivered consistent performances over the years.

Guardiola has never got in the way of a player willing to leave the club and maintained that stance with Silva when rumours about a move to Barcelona circulated. The Manchester City playmaker has long been linked with the Catalan giants, who have stepped up their interest this summer.

Barcelona planned to sell Frenkie de Jong before bringing Silva to the club. However, owing to their well-documented financial woes and Manchester City’s steep asking price for Silva, a move to Catalonia looks unlikely for the Portugal international.

For Silva’s part, the 28-year-old playmaker has been respectful towards Manchester City and is willing to stay put after accepting a move to Barcelona may not materialise. However, Paris Saint-Germain have entered the frame for the Manchester City midfielder and could make a formal approach.

The report by The Times claims that PSG are prepared to pay £59 million to sign Silva, which may still be short of Manchester City’s asking price. In addition to the transfer fees, PSG will offer Silva a significant contract that matches his stature.

However, there are questions over Silva’s desire to return to Ligue 1, having made his name with AS Monaco earlier in his career. For him, joining Barcelona remains a dream, and he may stay put at Manchester City for one more season with hopes of joining the Catalan giants next summer.

Signing for PSG would effectively end his dream of playing for the Blaugrana, although the French giants may offer him the chance to win the UEFA Champions League. The Ligue 1 champions have strengthened their squad significantly but have not landed the usual marquee signing they usually bring in a summer transfer window.

As things stand, a move for Silva could get complicated for PSG. In part, Manchester City could also refuse to sell the Portuguese playmaker so late in the window, as they may not have enough time to secure a replacement. However, the central part would be based on Silva’s decision, which currently points towards staying at Manchester City.
