PSG will reportedly provide stiff competition to Barcelona in the race to sign Portuguese playmaker Bernardo Silva from Manchester City this summer.

According to a report by Foot Mercato, Bernardo Silva is the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Portuguese playmaker is ready to leave Manchester City this month, with Barcelona his preferred destination.

Bernardo Silva has been at Manchester City for the past half a decade and is currently in the form of his life. The 27-year-old was a talismanic figure for the Citizens in the 2021/22 season as they claimed yet another Premier League title ahead of Liverpool.

The Portuguese international amassed 13 goals and seven assists in 50 appearances across all competitions. But Silva is reportedly keen on embarking on a new adventure in the summer transfer window, with Manchester City unwilling to cash in on him. His preferred destination will be Barcelona, with PSG emerging in the race to sign him.

Recent reports claimed that intermediaries offered Barcelona the chance to sign Silva, but Manchester City soon refuted such claims. But the Catalan club’s interest in the Portuguese playmaker is well known, with the Blaugrana keen on signing him this summer.

Recent reports have also claimed that Barcelona and Silva have agreed to personal terms, although convincing Manchester City to sell the 27-year-old remains a tall order. The Catalan giants now have PSG as their main competitors in the race to sign Silva from Manchester City this summer.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions have been busy in the market this summer and have paid special attention to bolstering the midfield unit. Vitinha has already joined PSG, with Renato Sanches likely to follow suit soon. But signing Bernardo Silva will be another step in the right direction to complete PSG’s midfield overhaul.

But Manchester City will look to hold on to Silva, leaving Barcelona and PSG with an uphill task in the race to sign him. But recent reports have claimed that the Catalan giants are optimistic about signing the 27-year-old playmaker.
