Manchester United could reportedly look to sign American attacker Christian Pulisic on loan from Chelsea this summer.

According to a report by The Athletic, Christian Pulisic is the subject of interest from Manchester United over a possible move in the ongoing transfer window. The Red Devils are weighing up approaching Chelsea to discuss the possibility of signing the USMNT international on loan this summer.

Christian Pulisic has blown hot and cold since joining Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund nearly three years ago. The 23-year-old had enjoyed a solid debut season at the west London club, with his form in the run-in period raising hopes of a successful stint with the Blues. However, Pulisic has struggled to retain high performance since then.

The American attacker has barely featured for Chelsea thus far in the new season, making two appearances off the bench in as many games. But despite Pulisic’s reduction in stature at Chelsea, he remains highly sought-after in the market, with Manchester United the latest club to show interest in him.

The summer transfer window has been far from memorable for Manchester United, even though Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez have featured prominently in the first two games. But the Red Devils are yet to make a game-changing signing thus far, with the attacking unit short of quality options.

With Cristiano Ronaldo’s future far from certain, Manchester United might need to make more than one signing. The Premier League heavyweights have thus showed interest in several players, including Chelsea playmaker Hakim Ziyech, with Pulisic now emerging as a viable target.

The USMNT international can play anywhere across the frontline. And despite struggling at Chelsea in the last couple of seasons, he might add some value to the Manchester United attack if he arrives on loan from Chelsea. With the Red Devils looking listless thus far in the first two games, bringing in a new attacker might help galvanise Erik ten Hag’s squad.

While Pulisic will prefer to remain at Chelsea, the Blues are reportedly open to cashing in on him this summer. So it will be interesting to see if Manchester United’s approach for a loan move ends with Pulisic swapping Stamford Bridge with Old Trafford as his base.
