Manchester United are reportedly ready to ramp up their pursuit of Chelsea attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech, who is out of favour at Stamford Bridge.

According to journalist Nabil Djellit, Manchester United are prepared to up the ante in their efforts to sign Chelsea playmaker Hakim Ziyech before the transfer window slams shut in two weeks.

Ziyech joined Chelsea from Ajax in the summer of 2020 amid much fanfare, but things have not worked out for him at Stamford Bridge. The Moroccan international has had fitness setbacks throughout his two-year stint with the Blues, while the appointment of Thomas Tuchel and the subsequent change in formation has deprived him of regular playing time.

Ziyech has fallen out of favour at Chelsea and is yet to play a single minute of football this season. And an exit is likely this summer, with AC Milan having been linked with a move for him. However, Manchester United have also shown an interest in signing the 29-year-old, with new manager Erik ten Hag keen on a reunion.

Ten Hag managed to get the best out of Ziyech during their time together at Ajax and is looking to reunite with him at Old Trafford. However, up until now, the Manchester United board were said to be reluctant to back the Dutch tactician over a move for the Chelsea attacking midfielder.

However, as per the update from Nabil Djellit, the Manchester United board are now ready to move forward with their pursuit of Ziyech if Chelsea are willing to do business for a reasonable transfer fee.

Manchester United are in the market for attacking reinforcements, particularly in the centre-forward slot and the right flank. A move for Antony had been in the works, but the Brazilian’s exorbitant price tag has seemingly put the Red Devils off his pursuit. Other players like Ismaila Sarr and Marcus Thuram are being linked, while Ziyech is also a target.

The 29-year-old is not a natural winger but excelled playing on the right flank in ten Hag’s side at Ajax. And with his Chelsea future uncertain, the Red Devils could consider making a push for his signing. What would be interesting to see is whether Chelsea are willing to let the playmaker join a rival club.
