La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly weighing up the prospect of signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United this summer.

According to reputed Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the subject of interest from Barcelona over a possible move in the ongoing transfer window. The Catalan giants want to sign a new right-back this summer, with the Manchester United defender now emerging on their radar.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka joined Manchester United from Crystal Palace nearly three years ago and has blown hot and cold since then. The 24-year-old was top-notch in his debut season with the Red Devils, but his stock has plummeted since then, with the player falling below Diogo Dalot in the pecking order this year.

Wan-Bissaka is yet to feature for Manchester United thus far this season, with Erik ten Hag preferring Diogo Dalot as the first-choice right-back. But he continues to feature on the radars of several high-profile clubs in Europe, with Barcelona one of his prospective suitors.

Barcelona wanted to sign Cesar Azpilicueta to bolster Xavi Hernandez’s right-back options in the ongoing transfer window. But the Chelsea captain has snubbed the Blaugrana by signing a new contract with the west London club. They have thus had to set their sights on alternatives for the experienced full-back.

Several right-backs have thus popped up on Barcelona’s radar in the last couple of weeks, including Thomas Meunier and Juan Foyth. And Wan-Bissaka has now emerged as a viable target for Barcelona, although the Manchester United full-back might not suit Xavi’s system at Camp Nou.

Nonetheless, it looks like the Catalan giants are weighing up the prospect of signing the 24-year-old in the ongoing transfer window. And Barcelona might not have many issues pursuing Wan-Bissaka if they launch the offensive to secure his services, with Manchester United keen on offloading him this summer.

The prospect of joining Barcelona might entice Wan-Bissaka, who will likely replace Sergino Dest. The USMNT international is coincidentally a target for Manchester United, and he might end up swapping bases with Wan-Bissaka before the summer transfer window shuts down. It will be interesting to see if such a double move materialises.
