Real Madrid will reportedly look to secure the services of 27-year-old Inter Milan defender in a Bosman move next summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Milan Skriniar is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the 2023 summer transfer window. The 27-year-old defender has entered the final year of his contract with Serie A club Inter Milan.

Milan Skriniar has established himself as one of the best defenders in Serie A since arriving in Italy half a dozen years ago. The Slovakian centre-back first rose to prominence during his stint with Sampdoria before his stock skyrocketed following his move to Inter Milan in July 2017.

The 27-year-old has turned out over 200 times for Inter Milan and was a pivotal figure when they clinched the Serie A title in the 2020/21 season. But Skriniar faces an uncertain future at San Siro after entering the final year of his contract with Inter Milan. Such a situation has captured the attention of several European bigwigs, including Real Madrid.

The Merengues hold a long-standing interest in Skriniar, but it does not make sense to plan a move for the Slovakian international. Real Madrid signed Antonio Rudiger this summer, and the German international’s arrival has bolstered the central defensive unit considerably.

Carlo Ancelotti now has three world-class defenders at his disposal in Rudiger, Eder Militao, and David Alaba. In addition, Nacho is a top-notch backup defender, while Jesus Vallejo is not going anywhere in the ongoing transfer window, meaning Real Madrid’s central defensive unit is stacked.

Even if Vallejo leaves, Ancelotti has more than enough resources at his disposal, meaning the reigning La Liga champions do not need another central defender. Even so, Skriniar might leave Inter Milan in the ongoing transfer window amid interest from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Serie A giants are understandably reluctant to part ways with the 27-year-old. But Inter Milan might have to relent amid rampant pressure from Skriniar, Chelsea and PSG, it will be interesting to see if the Nerazzurri will be able to keep the star defender beyond the summer transfer window.
