Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is reportedly keen on returning to the Serie A by joining Juventus this summer.

According to Italian journalist Paolo Paganini, Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is keen on returning to the Serie A, with Juventus emerging as potential suitors. The Italian international has just a year remaining on his contract with the Blues and could thus be sold this summer rather than being allowed to leave on a free transfer next year.

Jorginho joined Chelsea in a €57 million (including add-ons) deal from Napoli in the 2018 summer transfer window. His four seasons at the west London club have been highly fruitful as the 30-year-old has grown into one of the best midfielders in the world and won trophies at both club and international levels.

Jorginho won the UEFA Champions League with the Blues in 2020 and the UEFA Euro 2020 with Italy a year later. He was also named UEFA Best Player for his performances for club and country. However, the Italian midfielder does not feature extensively in Thomas Tuchel’s plans and also saw his game time reduce a bit last season.

He made 26 Premier League starts last season and 23 in the year before that, signalling a shift in priorities of the Premier League club, who are reportedly in the market for a midfield signing. With just a year remaining on his Chelsea contract, Jorginho could be sold this summer, despite signalling earlier this month that his future lies at Stamford Bridge.

Juventus were linked with the midfielder at the start of the summer transfer window as well but are yet to make an official approach. The Serie A giants recently released former Arsenal man Aaron Ramsey from the squad and could also sell Arthur Melo in the coming weeks.

This will leave them needing a top-class midfielder, especially with Paul Pogba sidelined for the foreseeable future. And Jorginho, having played over 150 Serie A matches, fits the bill. The Italian international played some of his best football while at Napoli, and would not take long readjusting as per the needs of Serie A.

The 30-year-old has “sent signals” to the Bianconeri over a possible summer move. And with Chelsea open to selling the 30-year-old this summer, and Jorginho keen on returning to Italy as well, Juventus seem the favourite to land the midfielder.
