Manchester City are reportedly ready to improve their previous offer for Marc Cucurella after Brighton rejected an earlier bid.

According to a report by Spanish publication Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Manchester City could further explore the possibility of signing Marc Cucurella by tabling an improved offer to Brighton & Hove Albion. The Seagulls have already rejected an offer from the Premier League champions.

Manchester City usually have processes in place when it comes to signing players. However, despite their straightforward methods of conducting transfer business, there is an ongoing stand-off with Brighton over the valuations of Marc Cucurella.

Manchester City have identified the Brighton star as their primary defensive target in this window. His arrival is considered vital at this stage after Oleksandr Zinchenko joined Arsenal, meaning Pep Guardiola is short of players on the left side of his defensive third.

Widespread reports suggested Brighton will hold out for a significant transfer fee, similar to what they charged for Ben White from Arsenal last summer. While Manchester City are more than capable of paying such a price, they have reportedly made it clear that they will not exceed the £50 million mark.

But Manchester City have had a £30 million offer rejected by Brighton, but they will go back with an improved bid. The Seagulls have a valuation set for the 23-year-old, which is more than what the Premier League champions presented. Meanwhile, Cucurella is reportedly unhappy with the demands and wants the Premier League club to reduce the asking price, as he continues to push for a move.

Brighton remain relaxed about the situation as they have the player tied to a long-term deal. Despite remaining open to losing the left-back, the Premier League club do not see the point in selling him well below their valuations. However, with the new bid, it is unclear whether Manchester City will match Brighton’s demands.

The report claims Manchester City will not throw in the towel for Cucurella, although they are going to look at alternate targets. However, Guardiola still considers the 23-year-old Spanish full-back his primary target and will continue to push to get a deal done.

Brighton’s realistic demands could only be speculated at this time, and whether Manchester City will be able to land their man remains to be seen. The chase for Cucurella is ongoing, and the new bid is expected to come in sooner rather than later.
