Arsenal are reportedly ready to offer Lucas Torreira in a deal to sign Arthur Melo from Juventus, with the Brazilian midfielder emerging as a key target.

According to Calciomercatoweb, Arsenal are considering including Lucas Torreira in a potential deal to sign Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo. The Brazilian international has been courted by the Gunners since January and is reportedly free to leave the Serie A giants.

The Italian media continues to link Arsenal with a move for Arthur Melo, and a new twist has been added to the latest story. The Gunners were interested in signing the Brazilian midfielder in January but could not agree the terms for a loan deal with Juventus.

In recent weeks, Arsenal have reportedly reopened talks with Juventus and have been considering making a formal offer to test Juventus’s resolve. While there has been no concrete mention of fees involved in signing the Brazilian international, the midfielder is reportedly keen to join the north Londoners.

Arthur may not have a future at Juventus next season following the January arrival of Denis Zakaria and the recent free transfer of Paul Pogba. Massimiliano Allegri does not see the former Barcelona midfielder, and possibly Adrien Rabiot, in his plans, with the duo missing from the squad that travelled to the USA.

In Arthur’s case, it is reportedly an injury problem, but the doubts regarding his time in Turin continue to attract speculation. The latest reports now claim Arsenal would like to include Lucas Torreira as part of the deal to sign their key midfield target and have offered additional cash to wrap up the signing.

Meanwhile, the English media has linked Arsenal with Lucas Paqueta and Youri Tielemans, with the latter reportedly their priority target. As for Torreira, the 26-year-old does not have a future at Arsenal, having spent the last two seasons away on loan, first to Atletico Madrid and then with Fiorentina.

While Fiorentina refused to trigger the pre-agreed buy option worth a reported €15 million, Torreira is keen on returning to Italy. AS Roma were linked with a move, and the 26-year-old Uruguayan international went on to suggest he spoke to Jose Mourinho about a possible move.

Recent reports have also revealed the interest of Juventus in Torreira. They have now suggested that Arsenal would be willing to include the out-of-favour midfielder plus a cash offer worth €10-15 million in a possible deal for Arthur.

For now, this story could be a mere rumour, although Torreira has left the Arsenal camp as his Instagram story suggested. The 26-year-old midfielder is seemingly closing in on an exit from the Emirates, and Italy could be the destination considering the Uruguayan international is comfortable playing in Serie A.
