Arsenal could make a formal bid for Juventus star Arthur Melo, with the focus shifting towards bringing in a new midfielder.

According to Rudy Galetti, Arsenal are set to make an official offer to Juventus for midfielder Arthur Melo. After closing Oleksandr Zinchenko’s signing, the Gunners have shifted their focus on bringing in a new midfielder, with at least three notable names on their shortlist.

Arthur Melo has no longer in Massimiliano Allegri’s plans for next season, as has been the case since January. Juventus have recently strengthened their midfield with Denis Zakaria’s acquisition in the winter window and the free transfer of Paul Pogba recently.

Those signings effectively eliminate Arthur Melo and Adrien Rabiot out of Allegri’s plans, meaning they are free to leave. The Brazilian did attract interest from Arsenal back in January, but the Gunners couldn’t agree terms over a loan deal with Juventus.

Recently the Gunners reignited their interest in the midfielder as Mikel Arteta continues to shape the squad to his liking. The club have already signed Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira and are about to bring in Oleksandr Zinchenko, with the move confirmed by Pep Guardiola to the press.

Arsenal will shift their attention towards the much-needed signing in midfield, despite Zinchenko being capable of playing in the role. Youri Tielemans is their primary target, but the Gunners are keeping an eye on Arthur’s situation.

Rudy Galetti claims the north Londoners are now set to make a formal bid to try and lure the midfielder away from Juventus. The journalist mentions the Gunners’ interest in Tielemans, although he suggests Arsenal could try and sign Arthur. The Brazilian certainly fits the profile of the midfielder Arteta is currently looking for.

Arthur was reportedly keen on joining Arsenal in January and he could prove a solid acquisition even though he hasn’t cemented a regular place at Juventus since signing from Barcelona.

Arsenal are still expected to make an offer to Leicester City for Tielemans at some stage of this window. It could be the case of driving the current price down, meaning a late bid from the Gunners could materialise. So, as things stand, the Gunners are keeping their options, with both Arthur and Tielemans under consideration.
