Takefusa Kubo is reportedly open to joining newly-promoted La Liga club Real Valladolid, who will look to land the Real Madrid prospect on loan.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, there is a new twist in the tale of Takefusa Kubo and his next destination. The Real Madrid prospect is open to joining newly-promoted La Liga club Real Valladolid on loan in the summer transfer window.

Takefusa Kubo must be a frustrated man after joining Real Madrid with a lot of aspirations and struggling to establish a foothold in the first-team setup. The Japanese international’s failures are not necessarily his fault, as all three non-EU spots in the squad are occupied at the moment, meaning Real Madrid cannot hand him an opportunity to impress.

The 21-year-old has instead embarked on four loan spells since joining Real Madrid from FC Tokyo three years ago. Kubo’s best stints have come with RCD Mallorca, but his output has not always been ideal enough to convince Real Madrid to make radical changes in the first-team squad to accommodate him.

The Japanese prospect is currently back at Real Madrid after completing his second loan stint with RCD Mallorca. But Kubo will not be at the Santiago Bernabeu for a long time, with Real Valladolid in talks to sign him on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window.

Ronaldo is eager to create a stable squad that can maintain Real Valladolid’s La Liga status come May 2023 instead of dropping to the Segunda Division. Kubo has thus emerged as a viable target for the Albivioletas, with the Real Madrid prospect bringing three years of experience in La Liga.

While talks between Valladolid and Real Madrid continue progressing, the report claims Kubo is warming up to the idea of moving to the Jose Zorrilla Stadium in the summer transfer window. The development will come as a blow for Real Sociedad, who had been in discussions with Real Madrid over a possible summer move.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid also considered selling Kubo while reserving a certain percentage of his rights in the process. But it looks like a loan move to Real Valladolid could be on the cards, with the newly-promoted La Liga club making the moves to bolster their first-team squad this summer.
