Paris Saint-Germain are ready to part ways with Neymar, who is reportedly open to joining Chelsea.

According to a report from London Evening Standard, Chelsea have been offered the opportunity to sign Neymar. The PSG forward is set to be offloaded by the French champions as part of Luis Campos’s summer clear-out, with the player himself open to moving to Stamford Bridge.

Neymar has been a part of PSG since 2017, when he joined the club for a world record fee of €222 million. Since then, the Brazilian forward has been involved in 160 goals in 144 competitive matches, which is quite an impressive tally for any player in world football. But he has also missed a chunk of matches due to his injury woes.

In addition to his injuries, Neymar has often struggled to perform on big occasions and has found himself on the end of some off-field controversies. And keeping his hefty wages in mind, PSG are now keen on getting rid of him this summer, as they look to build the team around Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

With his spell at PSG on the brink of collapse, Neymar believes a move to Chelsea might be beneficial. As such, his agents have offered new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly the opportunity to snap him up ahead of the new season.

It is not secret Boehly wants to complete the signing of a big-name player in this summer transfer window, as evidenced by the club’s pursuit of Mohamed Salah shortly before his contract extension at Liverpool. But it appears the Chelsea owner is facing internal pressure from coach Thomas Tuchel, who does not want to sign any superstar this summer.

Tuchel is not considered to be a competent man-manager and has had struggles with his previous assignment at PSG. The German, instead, prefers to sign players that do not attract mass attention and will not disrupt the rhythm of the dressing room. That is is a big reason why the Chelsea boss is desperate to sign Raheem Sterling from Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Neymar’s ludicrous wage, crossing the €600,000-a-week barrier, will most likely rule Chelsea out of the chase, along with most other clubs in European football. The Blues, though, appear quite open to signing another unsettled big-name player in the form of Cristiano Ronaldo, who has recently asked for a transfer from Manchester United.

Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes had recently met Chelsea owner Todd Boehly to discuss the possibility of a summer move to Stamford Bridge. With the Portuguese icon seemingly unsettled at Old Trafford, this is a transfer saga worth keeping an eye on.
