Real Madrid have reportedly turned down offers from several clubs for defensive prospect Rafa Marin this summer.

According to AS, Real Madrid do not intend to sell or loan young defender Rafa Marin this summer and have rejected several offers for the 20-year-old, including one worth €4 million.

Marin is a product of the Real Madrid academy. The centre-half joined La Fabrica in 2016 from Sevilla’s youth setup and has gradually progressed to become a mainstay at the heart of the defence for Real Madrid’s Castilla outfit over the past year. Held in the highest regard by club officials, Marin has 29 appearances for Raul Gonzalez’s side.

However, Marin is yet to make his first-team debut for Los Blancos, although he has been in the matchday squad on quite a few occasions. With Real Madrid signing Antonio Rudiger this summer to add to their already strong defensive contingent of Eder Militao, David Alaba, Nacho Fernandez and Jesus Vallejo, a pathway into the first-team setup this season looks difficult for the youngster.

This situation has already led to two other academy products, Victor Chust and Mario Gila, heading for the exit doors this summer. Indeed, Chust is closing in on a permanent transfer back to Cadiz after spending the last season on loan, while Gila is on the verge of joining Italian side Lazio.

And, there was a feeling that Marin could also be following in their footsteps, even if it was on a loan move rather than a permanent exit. The report states that Real Madrid fielded several offers for the 20-year-old Spanish ace. As many as ten clubs are claimed to have knocked on the doors of the reigning Spanish and European champions over a possible move for Marin.

Some of the proposals were said to be for loan deals, while there were also offers for a permanent transfer, with one of them being around the €4 million mark. However, Real Madrid have turned down all those offers as they intend to keep hold of Marin and see him continue his development with the Castilla outfit while regularly training with the senior team.

Marin’s contract with Real Madrid expires in 2023, and the two parties are now set to sit down and discuss an extension as Real Madrid are unwilling to lose the 20-year-old.
