Premier League giants Liverpool are reportedly bracing themselves for a possible Bosman exit by their star forward Mohamed Salah.
According to Daily Mirror, Mohamed Salah’s time at Liverpool might be finally coming to an end with just a year remaining on his contract with the club. The Reds are ‘unlikely’ to meet the Egyptian’s wage demands, leaving the door open for a free transfer after the 2022/23 season.
Salah joined Liverpool in a €42 million move from AS Roma in 2017 and was an instant hit at Anfield. He won the Premier League Golden Boot in his first-ever season with the Merseyside club, scoring 32 goals in the competition.
He did not stop there and added another Golden Boot to his tally by finishing the 2018/19 season as the English top-flight’s joint top-scorer. Salah continued banging in goals for fun and has now totalled 156 goals for the Merseyside club in 254 appearances.
Salah has grown into a club legend, helping Liverpool win the UEFA Champions League and their first-ever Premier League title, among other honours. The 30-year-old was among the three Liverpool forwards with their contracts expiring next summer. While Sadio Mane has left for Bayern Munich this summer, the futures of Salah and Roberto Firmino are still unclear.
It looks increasingly likely that the Reds will not be able to meet the Egyptian’s wage demands and will allow him to leave on a free transfer next season. Liverpool’s board has tried to reach an agreement with Salah, but the owners are not willing to break the wage structure.
There were rumours that Salah could leave the club this summer, but those were put to rest by the player himself, who confirmed that he will play for Liverpool next season.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are reportedly exploring the possibility to get the Egyptian on board on a Bosman move next summer. Salah, however, will prefer to stay in the Premier League if he leaves Liverpool, which could make things interesting next summer if the key attacker leaves in a Bosman move.
