Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus has reportedly agreed to join Arsenal and is set to sign a five-year deal at the Emirates.

Gabriel Jesus will sign a five-year deal with Arsenal and is expected to arrive in England this week to undergo medicals and other formalities. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Gunners have reached full agreement with the Manchester City striker over a £45 million move.

Arsenal have secured their primary target this summer, as Gabriel Jesus is only some time away from signing his contract with the club. After discussing the transfer for weeks, the Gunners reached an agreement for the Manchester City forward, who will bolster Mikel Arteta’s forward options.

Arsenal had been in the market for a new striker, and early reports indicated Jesus was their priority target. Other names like Victor Osimhen, Darwin Nunez, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were linked, but Mikel Arteta only had eyes for the Manchester City striker.

Arsenal reached an agreement with Manchester City late last week over a fee, with the north London club expected to pay £45 million for the Brazilian. Jesus has been inclined to leave the Etihad after the arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez, which threatened to put his place in the team at risk.

Jesus was reportedly pushing for a move to the Emirates, despite other teams present in the race to sign him. His past relationship with Mikel Arteta from the Spaniard’s stint with Manchester City and technical director Edu Gaspar with the Brazilian national team helped Arsenal pursue the striker.

Chelsea and Tottenham were also interested, and despite the lure of playing UEFA Champions League football, they could not prise the striker away. Spurs recently cooled their interest with the knowledge of Arsenal being the favourites to sign the Manchester City forward, while Chelsea have shifted their attention towards Raheem Sterling.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Jesus has agreed to a five-year deal with Arsenal and will imminently arrive in England to undergo his medicals. The Gunners will pay around £45 million for the Brazilian, and an announcement could be expected this week.

Jesus will become Arsenal’s fourth summer signing after Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira, and goalkeeper Matt Turner. The Gunners are expected to continue their spending spree, with Leeds United’s Raphinha their next target, as talks are scheduled between the two clubs this week.

They might also sign a defender and have Lisandro Martinez in their sights. Youri Tielemans also remains a target, although an approach for the Leicester City playmaker could be expected later in the window, as Arteta focuses on improving his attacking options.
