Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of completing the deal to sign Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus, a target for Tottenham.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal have reached an agreement with Manchester City over the deal sign to Gabriel Jesus. There are some minor details yet to be finalised, but the Brazilian forward is on course to becoming AFC’s fourth major signing of the new season, snubbing Chelsea and Tottenham in the process.

Gabriel Jesus will be joined by Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira in Arsenal’s list of new signings, with the latter joining from FC Porto in a lucrative deal. The deal to sign Jesus, though, could trump Vieira, as the Gunners are expected to fork out a fee of around £45 million for the Brazilian.

The addition of Jesus is part of Mikel Arteta’s plans to add significant quality to the attacking unit after narrowly missing out on UEFA Champions League football this past season. After the departures of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this year, the Gunners have already managed to extend the contract of Eddie Nketiah.

Marquinhos was brought in from Sao Paulo as well in order to strengthen the depth out wide. And with Gabriel Jesus on the verge of becoming the latest member of the Arsenal frontline, the Londoners seem prepared for the season ahead, with Arteta expecting nothing less than a top-four finish.

As far as Manchester City are concerned, the departure of the Brazilian international to Arsenal is hardly surprising. The English champions had already strengthened their offensive unit by roping in Argentine talent Julian Alvarez and Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland.

Both the strikers are expected to become a key part of Pep Guardiola’s plans for next season, with the Manchester City manager already dismissing talks of Alvarez being shipped out on loan.

Gabriel Jesus himself will be delighted to put an end to his spell at Manchester City and join Arsenal in the new season. With almost 250 competitive appearances for the Cityzens and a record of winning four Premier League titles, the former Palmeiras starlet could bring the experience and winning mentality to the Arsenal team next season.

The Londoners, in turn, can offer him regular game-time and an ideal platform to showcase his skills at the highest level of football. It could prove to be invaluable for Jesus, especially ahead of the FIFA World Cup, as he looks to nail down a starting berth for himself in the Brazilian national team.
