Ajax starlet Antony is reportedly urging the club to consider offers from Manchester United this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United remain keen on securing the services of Antony. The Ajax winger has emerged as a transfer priority for the Premier League giants this summer, with coach Erik ten Hag particularly keen on sealing a reunion with the attacker ahead of the new season.

Manchester United are being offered help from Antony’s camp as well, with the Brazilian reportedly pressuring Ajax to consider offers. It is evident the attacker is keen on joining forces with ten Hag once again, this time at Old Trafford.

Last week, Manchester United were on the verge of completing a deal to sign Antony. But it appears the club have faced complications since, with Ajax now holding out for a fortune for the services of the winger, who has racked up 22 goals and 20 assists during his two years in Amsterdam.

From a sporting perspective, Manchester United’s interest in Antony stems from the uncertainty surrounding the future of a host of star players. The Red Devils are already set to lose out on the likes of Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard this summer, with the latter being subjected to a move to West Ham United, among many other English clubs.

Meanwhile, the Premier League giants are actively looking for a suitor for Anthony Martial. The Frenchman is valued at around £20 million, although finding a suitor could prove to be difficult for Manchester United following a disastrous loan spell at Sevilla during the second half of the 2021/22 campaign.

Nevertheless, Manchester United are hopeful they can sanction the exit of Martial in order to make way for Antony. The Brazilian international could add significant quality to the table, and his offensive combination alongside Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes, Antony Elanga and Cristiano Ronaldo could breathe new life to the Manchester United frontline.

At the same time, Antony is a risky target. Although the Brazilian winger is quite familiar with ten Hag’s tactics, it is worth noting a lot of Eredivisie stars have failed to prove themselves in the Premier League in recent years. Spending a fortune on Antony, to that end, could be a gamble, although it is a risk Manchester United must take, given the current state of affairs in their offensive unit.
