Arsenal have expressed their desire to sign Fenerbahce whizkid Arda Guler, who is valued at £25 million.

According to Aksam, Arsenal are in the market for Arda Guler. The young attacking midfielder currently plies his trade for Fenerbahce and has made a lot of waves in Turkey with his performances in the top flight. It has led to links with a move elsewhere, with Arsenal among the clubs interested in his services.

The report even goes on to suggest the Gunners are weighing up an official proposal for Guler. Coach Mikel Arteta is well aware of the youngster’s potential and wants to bring him to Emirates at any cost. There is a belief Guler could cost a fortune, though, with the report quoting a fee of around £25 million.

A native of the capital city of Ankara, Guler had been a part of the Fenerbahce youth setup since 2019. He has steadily made his way up the ranks and was notably rewarded with a promotion to the senior side last summer, in light of his blazing performances in the youth competitions.

Bagging a wealth of promise and potential, Guler did not disappoint either. In his maiden professional season, the youngster racked up 16 competitive appearances, scoring three goals while chipping in with five assists.

The 17-year-old has been lauded for his composure which is beyond anyone his age. Blessed with technical prowess and impressive close control, the youngster has even received praises from Mesut Ozil himself. The former Arsenal man is convinced of his talents and has backed him to achieve great success.

Ozil’s backing of Arda Guler appears to have alerted his former club Arsenal. The Gunners have been monitoring the progress of the teenage prospect quite closely and are keen on acquiring his services in the coming summer.

Boasting players such as Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, Arsenal have no shortage of talented playmakers in the final third. But coach Arteta is keen on further enhancing his ranks by adding Guler to the equation.

At the age of just 17, though, there is a considerable amount of risk associated with the club’s pursuit of Guler, who is yet to prove himself in any of the top five leagues in Europe and offers little to no experience. Given his style of play, he may even struggle to settle into the physical nature of English football, so it would perhaps be wiser for the Gunners to allow the youngster to gain some experience before making a move.
