Premier League heavyweights Manchester United are reportedly ready to offer Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong a deal worth £395,000 per week.

According to a report by 90 min, Frenkie de Jong could soon have a lucrative contract offer on his table from Manchester United. The Red Devils are ready to hand the Dutch midfielder a deal worth around £395,000 per week to prise him away from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Frenkie de Jong remains one of the best midfielders in Europe despite Barcelona’s inconsistencies in the last few years. The 25-year-old has made swift progress at Camp Nou in three seasons while adapting to various systems. And while he initially struggled under Xavi Hernandez, the player has become a pivotal figure for the Barcelona boss.

The Dutch midfielder has turned out 140 times for Barcelona thus far, chipping in with 13 goals and 17 assists. But de Jong faces an uncertain future at Camp Nou amid contrasting reports about his situation. The developments have captured the attention of several high profile clubs across Europe, including Manchester United.

Manchester United will have to bolster the midfield unit in the summer transfer window as Nemanja Matic has confirmed that he will depart from Old Trafford. Paul Pogba will likely follow suit, and his exit will leave a gaping hole in Manchester United’s creative ranks despite the Frenchman’s inconsistencies.

Frenkie de Jong has thus emerged as the priority target for Manchester United, with the Dutch international already well-versed with new manager Erik ten Hag’s playing style. But de Jong has thus far been reluctant to leave Barcelona to join a club that will not play in the UEFA Champions League.

Recent reports had also claimed that Barcelona might shut the door on his sale following comments by Joan Laporta. But Manchester United and Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement over a transfer fee for de Jong. And according to 90 min, the Red Devils are ready to offer the 25-year-old a deal worth £395,000 per week.

The Dutch international will become one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League if he signs the £395,000-a-week contract. But the final decision ultimately rests with de Jong, especially if Barcelona and Manchester United have agreed to a final transfer fee.
