Aston Villa and West Ham United are reportedly on alert as Liverpool have put Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain up for sale.

According to Daily Mirror, Liverpool are prepared to offload Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the upcoming summer transfer window. The midfielder has fallen out of favour in the last couple of years and is not included in Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the new season. With just one year remaining on his contract at Anfield, Liverpool are ready to sanction his sale if they receive an offer in excess of £10 million.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s precarious situation at Liverpool has put Aston Villa and West Ham on alert, with both the Premier League outfits keen on acquiring the services of the former Arsenal midfielder.

Once regarded as one of the biggest prospects in English football, Oxlade-Chamberlain had been a part of Liverpool since the summer of 2017. But during his five years at the club, the midfielder has not been able to live up to his expectations, only playing a bit-part role under Jurgen Klopp.

The Englishman has indeed fallen behind the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson and even Curtis Jones in the pecking order. With Liverpool recently confirming the arrival of Fabio Carvalho in the new season, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s role in the first team could dwindle further.

As such, Liverpool are prepared to offload Oxlade-Chamberlain at the end of the season, with Aston Villa and West Ham more than willing to acquire his services. Aston Villa, for one, are fresh from the capture of Philippe Coutinho and Boubacar Kamara, but it appears Steven Gerrard is keen on adding more quality to his midfield setup.

Oxlade-Chamberlain could be an interesting option. The Liverpool midfielder can offer the tactical versatility in the middle of the park and could compete with John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey for a place in the starting eleven.

West Ham, meanwhile, are the favourites to sign Jesse Lingard on a free transfer. David Moyes, though, is ready to add more creativity into his midfield unit by bringing in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Liverpool.

With 226 Premier League appearances to his name, the former Arsenal sensation offers the experience and the pedigree at the highest level of football. It is combined with his versatility and creativity, making the Liverpool midfielder a sought-after figure in the market. And for a fee of just over £10 million, the Englishman could prove to be a bargain for both Aston Villa and West Ham this summer.
