Liverpool have confirmed 19-year-old Fulham attacking sensation Fabio Carvalho as their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool have made an official statement Liverpool have made an official statement to confirm that they have secured the services of Fabio Carvalho. The 19-year-old attacking sensation will arrive at Anfield on July 1 once his deal with Fulham expires, with the Cottagers set to receive a compensation amount.

Fabio Carvalho is one of the most promising young prospects in England, with the teenage prodigy going from strength to strength since joining Fulham from Benfica in 2015. The player turned professional in 2020 by signing a two-year contract with the Londoners before making his debut on September 23.

Since then, the 19-year-old attacking sensation has grown to become a pivotal figure for Fulham and enjoyed an excellent 2021/22 season. Carvalho amassed ten goals and eight assists in 36 EFL Championship appearances, playing an instrumental role in the Cottagers’ Premier League promotion-clinching campaign.

But Carvalho’s original two-year deal will expire next month, making him a highly sought-after player in the market ahead of the summer transfer window. And Liverpool quickly took the lead to secure the services of the Portuguese under-21 international amid interest from other European giants like Arsenal and AC Milan.

Liverpool had come ever so close to signing Carvalho in the January transfer window, but the inability to complete the paperwork scuppered the move. The Reds would have sent the 19-year-old back to Fulham anyway but have to wait six more months to complete his signing.

However, Liverpool took no time to reach an agreement in principle to sign Carvalho despite the competition from other clubs. And recent reports have pointed towards Carvalho agreeing to sign a five-year contract with Liverpool upon arriving from Fulham.

The Merseyside giants have now completed the teenage attacking sensation’s capture, making an official announcement to confirm the deal. While the announcement does not mention the length of the contract Carvalho will sign, he could well be ready to pen the aforementioned five-year deal.

According to The Guardian, Liverpool will pay an initial £5 million to sign Carvalho, with an addition £2.7 being add-ons. The Reds are already grooming one teenage prodigy who arrived from Fulham in Harvey Elliott. And Carvalho has become the latest prospect to join Liverpool, with his arrival set to fill the void left by the departure of the versatile Divock Origi in the long run.
