Valencia will reportedly not stand in Carlos Soler and Jose Gaya’s way if the two Spanish internationals wish to leave amid interest from Barcelona.
As reported by Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona’s hopes of signing Carlos Soler and Jose Gaya in the summer transfer window have received a boost. Valencia president Anil Murthy has said that Los Che will likely be open to parting with the two Spanish internationals if they get the right offer.
Carlos Soler and Jose Gaya have been with Valencia since they first began their respective careers in youth football. While Soler joined Los Che’s academy in 2005, Gaya arrived at the club a year later. And the duo has made considerable progress in the last decade and a half, with both of them breaking into the first-team setup in their teens.
Gaya has even become the club captain, with Valencia promoting him to the role following Dani Parejo’s departure a couple of years ago. Meanwhile, Soler is Valencia’s vice-captain, with the duo equally crucial for the Spanish outfit while also establishing a foothold in their national team. But Soler and Gaya will see their respective deals expire next year, with the situation capturing the attention of Barcelona.
Barcelona’s interest in Soler could be stemming from the uncertainties surrounding the future of Frenkie de Jong. While recent reports have claimed that the Catalan giants are considering a 2023 Bosman move for Soler, they could have the chance to land him this year following recent developments.
As for Gaya, Barcelona’s hopes of signing the Spanish international had been fading after recent reports claimed that the Valencia captain was open to extending his stay with Los Che. Several other left-backs have recently been linked with Barcelona, including Raphael Guerreiro.
But with Anil Murthy suggesting that Valencia could be open to cashing in on Soler and Gaya if the right offer comes their way, Barcelona might be in contention to land the two Spanish internationals.
