Sevilla will reportedly look to re-sign Clement Lenglet from Barcelona in the summer transfer window to replace Diego Carlos or Jules Kounde.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Clement Lenglet is the subject of interest from La Liga giants Sevilla over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The out-of-favour French defender is surplus to requirements at Barcelona and could return to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium as a replacement for either Diego Carlos or Jules Kounde.

Clement Lenglet joined Barcelona from La Liga rivals Sevilla in July 2018 and has since endured a topsy-turvy ride at Camp Nou. While the 26-year-old started his stint with the Blaugrana strongly, he has steadily fallen in stature in the last couple of years, becoming a bit-part player in the ongoing campaign.

Lenglet is fourth in the pecking order for centre-backs at Barcelona and has garnered just 997 minutes of game-time across 23 appearances in all competitions this term. And the Frenchman will likely leave Barcelona in the summer transfer window, with former club Sevilla looking to re-sign him from their La Liga rivals.

Los Nervionenses have been keenly following Lenglet’s situation for months and are keen on bringing him back to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. Sevilla will need to invest in at least one centre-back in the summer transfer window, as Jules Kounde and Diego Carlos face uncertain futures at the Andalusian club.

Kounde has been linked with some of the most high profile clubs across Europe, including FC Barcelona. On the other hand, Carlos is the subject of interest from Newcastle United, with the Magpies back on his trail after failing to lure him away from the La Liga giants in the January transfer window.

Lenglet is thus a viable target for Sevilla, whose efforts to re-sign the French international could be made easy by Barcelona’s stance on selling him in the summer transfer window. The Catalan heavyweights have deemed the 26-year-old surplus to requirements, meaning he could return to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

After two years of struggle at FC Barcelona, a move back to Sevilla could help Lenglet rediscover his best form. But with a few Premier League clubs also showing interest in him, it will be interesting to see if he remains in La Liga or moves abroad in the summer transfer window.

Lenglet could be a smart ad to Sevilla. He deserve a lot more respect.
