Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly have to pay €20 million to sign Brighton & Hove Albion defender Marc Cucurella.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has requested a left wing-back signing this summer, with Brighton & Hove Albion defender Marc Cucurella emerging as a possible option. The north London club are preparing for a summer overhaul, and Daniel Levy is eager to provide Conte a reinforced squad to work with next season.

The left wing-back slot is one of the positions Spurs are focusing at. Tottenham are reportedly preparing for Sergio Reguilon’s departure, with the Spaniard falling down the pecking order under the Italian tactician and looking for a way out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Cucurella’s name is being projected as a possible replacement for Reguilon, with the report claiming the 23-year-old Spanish defender is getting priority over other options.

Cucurella moved to the Premier League just last year, joining Brighton in an €18 million move from Getafe. He has since gone on to make 35 appearances for the club across competitions, impressing for Graham Potter’s side. The Spanish defender has played a crucial role in the Seagulls’ push for a top-half finish in the English top-flight this season.

Fichajes also report that the Spaniard could cost around €20 million, which Spurs would readily pay. With bigger players on their transfer wishlist, Tottenham would be pleased to close out a deal for Cucurella for just €20 million and invest the war chest elsewhere with names such as Jose Gimenez and Milan Skriniar getting linked.

Barcelona are also reportedly monitoring the young defender, a La Masia graduate. But the Blaugrana do have other options on their list. It could leave Tottenham as the only seriously interested party, and the north Londoners outfit will want to close out the deal sooner rather than later.

The only big question now remains over Brighton’s willingness to let the 23-year-old leave after just one year with them and for a profit of as little as €2 million. Tottenham, on the other hand, have their agenda clear.
