Mason Mount reportedly has no desire to leave Chelsea amid speculation over his future at Stamford Bridge.

Reputed transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has dropped some of his transfer thoughts in his latest column for Caught Offside. The Italian journalist has specifically offered an update on Chelsea’s bid to keep hold of Mason Mount, revealing key information surrounding the saga.

Mount has indeed been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer, amid interest from Real Madrid and Manchester United. But Romano believes there should be no cause for concern for the Chelsea fans, as the playmaker remains determined to remain in west London despite the interest from top clubs across Europe.

A native of Portsmouth, Mount has close connections with Chelsea. He had been a part of their youth setup since 2005 and is currently considered one of the indispensable members of the first team, having featured in over 150 competitive matches for the club.

An attacking midfielder by trade, Mount has played a vital role in Chelsea’s success under Thomas Tuchel. He has offered impeccable service behind the main striker while bringing versatility to the table. In addition, the 23-year-old has been quite productive in the final third, racking up 29 goals and 30 assists for Chelsea in all competitions.

Mount has become a key player not only for Chelsea but for the England national team as well. He has won 27 caps for his country, with many expecting him to help his nation potentially win the FIFA World Cup at the start of next year.

In light of such success, Chelsea remain determined to keep hold of Mount. The Blues were not in a position to hold contract talks with their existing stars for the last few weeks. But with the takeover on the verge of completion, Chelsea are in a position to retain the services of their pivotal figures.

In fact, the west Londoners are poised to open contract talks with Mount, whose current deal at Stamford Bridge in two years. A potential renewal this summer could guarantee the English midfielder’s future at Chelsea for the foreseeable future, although nothing can be truly ruled out in European football.
