Tottenham are reportedly keen on signing Denzel Dumfries in the summer, although Inter Milan’s asking price could pose problems for the north Londoners.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham are preparing a £20 million offer to tempt Denzel Dumfries away from Inter Milan as Antonio Conte remains keen on signing the offensive wing-back. The Serie A side could rebuff the offer and ask for a much higher sum to part ways with the Dutchman.

There was plenty of interest in Denzel Dumfries last summer, as the Dutchman came out of a brilliant UEFA Euro 2020 campaign with the Netherlands. Some of the biggest clubs in England and Europe recognised his talents.

Despite interest from plenty of other top clubs, Inter Milan won the chase as they paid around €14 million for the wing-back. He was signed as a replacement for Achraf Hakimi, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in a big-money move. Dumfries seemed like a solid player at the time, and his numbers back the claim.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign with the Nerazzurri, making 40 appearances and producing a return of five goals and seven assists. Dumfries’s performances have not escaped the attention of Tottenham manager Antonio Conte ahead of the summer transfer window.

Tottenham are reportedly keen on signing the right wing-back, with Conte looking to improve his options in the position. Despite recent good performances from Matt Doherty, the club are looking for an upgrade while being open to selling last summer signing Emerson Royal.  Dumfries comes across as the perfect option given his potential in both phases of the game.

Spurs also have other players on their radar, with the club retaining an interest in Adama Traore, who joined Barcelona on loan despite Tottenham coming close to capturing him. Tottenham are also interested in Djed Spence, but Dumfries seems to be the priority at the moment.

Tottenham are prepared to offer £20 million for the full-back, but Inter Milan will likely rebuff the proposal. The Serie A giants want nearly double in return for Dumfries, which Spurs may not be willing to pay.

At this point, super-agent Mino Raiola enters the frame to negotiate a reasonable price for Dumfries. Both clubs could discuss and agree on a fee or Tottenham will turn their attention towards other alternatives for the summer.
