Middlesbrough have reportedly named their price for Arsenal and Tottenham target and on-loan right-back Djed Spence, who will cost around £20 million.

According to Daily Express, north London giants Arsenal and Tottenham have shown interest in Djed Spence and are plotting a summer move for him. The 21-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at Nottingham Forest and has been quite solid to attract interest from Premier League clubs. Middlesbrough, however, have named their price and want at least £20 million for the Englishman.

Middlesbrough signed Spence from Fulham in 2018, and he has since been associated with the club. The English defender’s first full season with the Boro first team came in the 2019/20 term, when he made 22 Championship appearances, scoring one goal. His breakthrough season saw him become a permanent fixture on the right flank for them.

Majorly used as a right wing-back, Spence made 38 league appearances for Middlesbrough in the 2020/21 season but was surprisingly loaned out to Nottingham Forest for the ongoing campaign. He has impressed on loan as well, scoring three times and assisting five goals in 37 appearances for Nottingham across all competitions.

The 21-year-old’s recent form has been great too. He has scored a goal and assisted three in his last four league appearances. On the back of an impressive couple of seasons, it is natural for the youngster to attract interest from Premier League clubs. Arsenal and Tottenham are two such interested clubs.

The Gunners just have Takehiro Tomiyasu and Cedric Soares as their two right-backs. While the Japanese international has impressed in parts since arriving from Bologna last year, Cedric has largely struggled since his move from Southampton in 2020. Arsenal are thus eager to sign a right-back in the summer.

Over at Tottenham Hotspur, Antonio Conte is not happy with Emerson Royal’s performances this season and has asked the Spurs board to sign a right-back this summer. And Tottenham, too, like Arsenal, have identified Spence as a possible signing.

Middlesbrough could be tempted to sell the youngster for £20 million in the summer, fearing that his price might dip after this coming summer. Spence will have two years left on his contract after the ongoing season.
