Barcelona will reportedly need to stump up €10 million to secure the services of 27-year-old left-back Javi Galan from La Liga outfit Celta Vigo.
According to Spanish journalist Adrian Sanchez, Barcelona will not have to pay a premium to snap up Javi Galan in the summer transfer window. The 27-year-old Celta Vigo left-back will be available for an amount between €8 million and €10 million, with the valuation leaving Barcelona in contention to land him.
Javi Galan’s stock has skyrocketed in the last two seasons, as he was first a standout performer in a forgettable season for SD Huesca. And despite Huesca’s relegation, the Spanish left-back remained in La Liga, joining Celta Vigo last summer. The move has worked out well for Galan, who has been a pivotal figure for the Galician outfit.
The 27-year-old has barely missed a game this season, chipping in with three assists in 33 outings thus far for Celta Vigo. Galan’s progress over the last two years has not gone unnoticed, with some of the biggest clubs in La Liga, including Barcelona, setting their sights on him.
Barcelona could delve into the market for a left-back in the summer transfer window, with Jordi Alba well into his thirties and showing signs of age catching up with him. With Alejandro Balde yet to make his mark in the first-team setup at FC Barcelona, the need to sign a left-back has accentuated.
Jose Gaya had thus emerged as the priority target for the Blaugrana, but the Spanish international looks set to stay put at Valencia. As a result, several alternatives have popped up on Barcelona’s radar, with one such option being Galan.
The Catalan giants now know how much they will have to shell out to secure the services of the 27-year-old Celta Vigo left-back, with the La Liga outfit demanding around €10 million for him. While the Galician club could accept a fee of around €8 million, paying €10 million could be within Barcelona’s means.
There are other options on Barcelona’s radar, with Adria Pedrosa recently emerging as a target. It will be interesting to see if the La Liga heavyweights respond favourably to learning about Galan’s €10 million price tag or turn their attention towards another alternative.
