La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are reportedly closely monitoring the progress of 24-year-old Brazilian international Bruno Guimaraes at Newcastle United.

According to a report by Spanish publication AS, Bruno Guimaraes has popped up on the radar of Real Madrid once again. The Merengues are closely monitoring the Brazilian international and his performances at Newcastle United, although a move in the summer transfer window is unlikely.

Bruno Guimaraes has taken no time to establish himself as a pivotal figure for Newcastle United. Eddie Howe eased the 24-year-old into the thick of the action upon his arrival from Lyon in the January transfer window. But the player has quickly become an indispensable member of the Magpies’ first-team setup.

The Brazilian international has chipped in with three goals and one assist in 12 appearances for Newcastle United, directly contributing to several wins in the Tyneside club’s brilliant turnaround in the last couple of months. Bruno Guimaraes’s exploits at St. James’ Park have not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid among his prospective suitors.

Real Madrid will look to delve into the market for a holding midfielder in the summer transfer window, considering Casemiro has been blowing hot and cold this season. The Brazilian midfielder will likely remain the first-choice defensive midfielder in the 2022/23 season, but Real Madrid must bring in a player to rotate with him.

To that end, Aurelien Tchouameni has emerged as the priority target for Real Madrid heading into the summer transfer window. The conversations between the two parties have already begun, with Real Madrid reportedly in advanced talks to snap up the French international.

But Los Blancos will need to fend off stiff competition from several other European bigwigs, including Chelsea, to land Tchouameni. Bruno Guimaraes has thus emerged as a viable alternative for Real Madrid to consider, although prising him away from Newcastle United could be a tall order.

The 24-year-old Brazilian international is committed to the Newcastle United project, with the Magpies determined to become one of the most high profile teams in Europe. But the lure of playing for Real Madrid could turn Bruno Guimaraes’s head, and it will be interesting to see what happens if the Merengues approach the former Lyon midfielder.
