Premier League giants Chelsea have reportedly made a summer move for AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni their priority.

According to 90 min, Chelsea are preparing for a mass exodus this summer, with quite a few midfielders possibly on their way out. It will create space for midfield incomings, and the Blues have made AS Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni their number one midfield target.

Jorginho could be one of the most high-profile departures from Chelsea this summer. The west London club are set to lose defenders Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen this summer and the Italian international could join them too.

Jorginho is getting linked with a return to Italy, with Maurizio Sarri eager to bring him to Lazio. He will have just a year remaining on his Chelsea contract after the ongoing season, so the Blues will want to cash in on him this summer rather than risk losing him on a free transfer in 2023.

Ross Barkley has also failed to impress since arriving from Everton and could be on his way out of Chelsea, with his contract expiring in 2023. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has continued to play a bit-part role for the Blues and could be one of the midfield sales this summer.

Billy Gilmour could be sent on another loan whereas Saul Niguez is expected to be sent back to Atletico Madrid after struggling since joining the Blues on loan. Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater are both still contracted with Chelsea and are expected to be finally sold this summer.

With so many midfield departures expected this summer and keeping in mind the waning powers of N’Golo Kante, Chelsea have made Tchouameni their priority summer target. The 22-year-old has just over two years remaining on his contract after the ongoing season and is one of the most sought-after players in Europe.

Signing the Frenchman would not be straightforward for the Blues, however. Real Madrid and Manchester City have both registered interest in the midfielder, leaving the youngster with a big decision to make this summer.

It remains to be seen whether the Chelsea can get Tchouameni on board this summer or lose out to one of the other European giants interested in the youngster’s signature. With Real Madrid keen on prising the 22-year-old away from AS Monaco, a major transfer battle could be on the cards.
