La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly keen on signing 27-year-old Portuguese international Bernardo Silva in the summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Bernardo Silva is the subject of interest from Barcelona over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Portuguese international is also a target for Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain and could leave Manchester City in the summer.

Bernardo Silva joined Manchester City from AS Monaco in July 2017 and has since come leaps and bounds at the Etihad. While the 27-year-old has not always been a regular feature for the Citizens, he has resurrected his career in the ongoing campaign by becoming a pivotal figure for the Premier League champions.

The Portuguese international has barely missed a game when available, turning out 43 times across all competitions for Manchester City this season while chipping in with 11 goals and five assists. But despite becoming an important member of Pep Guardiola’s squad, Silva could leave Manchester City in the summer, with Barcelona showing interest in him.

Barcelona had been keen on securing the services of the former AS Monaco playmaker last summer before a move failed to materialise. Back then, Silva was desperate to leave Manchester City after becoming a rotation option in the 2020/21 season. But with the player still open to depart from the Etihad, Barcelona could be in contention to land him.

The Blaugrana might not need to bolster the midfield unit, considering Franck Kessie is on the verge of joining them in the summer. But with Ousmane Dembele and Adama Traore facing uncertain futures at Camp Nou, the 27-year-old Portuguese international could find a place in the attacking unit.

Silva’s ability to play as a right-winger will come in handy for Barcelona, with the player capable of chipping in with regular goals while boosting their creative ranks. But Barcelona will need to be wary of the competition, with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus also weighing up a summer move for the Manchester City star.

In addition, recent reports have suggested that Silva dreams of playing for Real Madrid, which might throw a spanner in the works for Barcelona. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see if the 27-year-old Portuguese international leaves Manchester City in the summer.
