La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are reportedly willing to offer Kylian Mbappe a contract worth €50 million per year.

According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, the battle to secure the long-term future of Kylian Mbappe is heating up. Paris Saint-Germain might be pulling out all the stops to retain the services of their prized asset, but Real Madrid could offer a deal worth €50 million per year to prise him away from Parc des Princes.

Kylian Mbappe has been a hot property in the market ever since he first rose to prominence in professional club football at AS Monaco over half a decade ago. After snubbing several big clubs to join Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, the 23-year-old has come leaps and bounds, improving his output year after year.

The Frenchman has enjoyed a solid 2021/22 campaign, amassing 31 goals and 22 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions. Mbappe has also enjoyed success at the international level, winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2021 UEFA Nations League. But the player’s contract situation has put PSG in a spot of bother while alerting Real Madrid to a possible Bosman move.

Real Madrid attempted to sign Mbappe for a nine-figure sum last summer, but PSG held on to him. However, with the youngster’s contract running out in a few months, the possibility of snapping the priority target has been rising for Real Madrid, with Los Blancos confident of securing his services in the summer transfer window.

With Gareth Bale certain to leave Real Madrid as a free agent, Mbappe is a like for like replacement who can perform at the Welshman’s peak levels and some. The French international can essentially be the long-sought Cristiano Ronaldo replacement at Real Madrid if he completes a free transfer.

The Merengues are now prepared to pay Mbappe the big bucks to convince him to join them in the summer, even with PSG pulling out all the stops to retain his services. According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid will offer the 23-year-old a €50 million-a-year contract to secure his long-term future.

The true value of the contract will be worth €100 million, meaning the €50 million earnings will be net figures. While the sum might appear eye-watering, Real Madrid will likely be able to afford to pay it, considering three high earners, Gareth Bale, Isco and Marcelo, will leave in the summer. The €50 million-a-year contract will make Mbappe the world’s best-paid player, and it will be interesting to see if such an offer does the trick.
