Serie A giants AC Milan have reportedly made a contract offer to Marco Asensio, who could leave Real Madrid in the summer.

According to reputed Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Marco Asensio’s agent has received a contract offer from AC Milan over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Serie A giants are ready to offer a €5 million-a-year deal to the Spaniard. But the Real Madrid forward wants a €7 million-a-year contract to leave Los Blancos.

Marco Asensio has bounced back well this season after a difficult 2020/21 campaign following his return from a long-term knee injury. The Spanish forward made a slow start to the ongoing term but has found it tough to nail down his spot as a regular in the Real Madrid starting lineup.

The 26-year-old has a tally of ten goals and one assist in 34 appearances across all competitions. But Asensio faces an uncertain future at Real Madrid, as he has a little over a year left on his deal, with talks over a contract renewal not progressing smoothly. Such a situation has captured the attention of AC Milan.

The Serie A giants will dip their toes in the market for a wide-attacker in the summer transfer window, as Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias have not been consistent enough on the right-wing. In addition, Samu Castillejo faces an uncertain future at San Siro and will likely leave AC Milan ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Rafael Leao has attracted plenty of interest from several high profile clubs across Europe, but AC Milan will battle hard to keep hold of the Portuguese international. However, bolstering the right-wing berth will likely be a priority for the Rossoneri, with Real Madrid forward Asensio emerging as a viable target.

The Serie A giants have already contacted Asensio’s agent to submit a contract offer to the 26-year-old. According to Rudy Galetti, AC Milan will be happy to pay the Real Madrid forward €5 million per year, close to what he currently earns at the Spanish club.

But Asensio is demanding a €7 million-a-year contract to commit his future to a club in the summer transfer window, including Real Madrid. Meanwhile, AC Milan will also face stiff competition from several Premier League clubs, with Arsenal among the teams vying for the Spaniard’s signature.
