Chelsea midfield mainstay N’Golo Kante could reportedly leave in the summer, with Real Madrid emerging as a potential destination for the Frenchman.

According to Fichajes, Real Madrid are among the clubs interested in signing Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, who could be on his way out in the summer transfer window.

Kante is widely recognised as one of the best midfielders in the game. The Frenchman first burst onto the scenes at Leicester City when he played an integral role in their shock 2015/16 Premier League title triumph. Chelsea did not waste any time signing the diminutive midfielder who won another league title in his debut campaign with the Blues.

Kante soon added the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA Europa League and more recently, the Champions League, Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup to his tally of trophies, firmly establishing himself as one of the most successful modern-day midfielders. The 31-year-old, however, is entering the final year of his contract this summer and has encountered some fitness problems in the recent past.

It has now led to speculations over his future at Stamford Bridge beyond the ongoing campaign, with many elite clubs in Europe keeping an eye on the situation. And as per the report, Real Madrid are one such team who are interested in luring Kante away from Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window.

Los Blancos are in the market for reinforcements in the centre of the park, with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos not getting any younger. Furthermore, there is no natural backup in the squad for Casemiro, a problem that Carlo Ancelotti wishes to address next summer. It has led to links with several top midfielders like Paul Pogba, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Fabian Ruiz, among others.

Now, Kante has emerged as a potential option for Real Madrid, although Tchouameni remains their priority to bolster the midfield department. Nonetheless, should the chance of signing the Frenchman at an affordable price present itself, the Spanish giants could contemplate launching a swoop.

However, they are likely to face competition from Paris Saint-Germain in pursuit of the 31-year-old, although recent reports have indicated that Kante has already turned down an opportunity to move to Parc des Princes. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner. But if he decides to leave Chelsea, there will be no shortage of suitors for Kante.
